Re haze, two suggestions.
First, levels adjustment, pulling dark and light sliders as far as you can. Second, local contrast enhancement -- lots of tutorials out there, here's one for photoshop. EL

That certainly punched it up.
A killjoy stickler (but not me of course) might note the blown highlights (look at the roofs and the water tower-looking thing), and say either that you moved your light slider in a tad too much, or alternatively suggest that you mask the really bright parts a bit when doing your levels. Do you have the opportunity to do much aerial photography?

Here's a more natural look. I often don't stick with Auto-Levels settings. I think this could afford a little more color but I just wanted to throw up a quickie for ya.
