lovely shot, I like how the water looks frozen in place ... The problem for me is, whenever I try to have a look at the pipe my eyes switch to the opening in it as it looks like a frame for the branch behind it, and the branch is not even on focus ... I would suggest that you take it from a different angle with nothing for the opening to frame, or to be even more creative, try to look for something really interesting to put in that place and let the opening frame it.

Yeah I love the frozen water, by far the highlight of the photo, but the background needs to be more blured and then under exposed pipe definitely needs to be corrected. If you shot in RAW you might be able to fix the exposure and with a little photoshoping you can blur the background more so that all the focus will be on the pipe and water. Great angle to by the way.

Hi Liz,

For me, you nailed the water...Overall, I like the photo; and I like the frame...thank goodness for unattended home repairs. I would delay the repair and work with this frame. Here's my take: on this particular image, I suggest cropping the right side just past the ridge on the hip roof. And, if you can retake this at slightly different angles, I would like to see a bit more light on the pipe and a focused picture inside the frame formed by the pipe. You could even stage something totally off-the-wall inside the frame just for the fun of it.

I enjoy your photo and thank you.
