Default Bridge Silhouette

BridgeColorfulSky

Finally got some time to mess around with some photos; this is from around November/December. Used curves in GIMP to darken foreground and give the sky more color. Ended up with a lot of noise, am going to try again soon. Besides the noise, do the colors fit the photo? Is the silhouette effective or should the street light also be completely darkened? Is there too much dark space at the bottom of the photo? Thanks for any advice.

For me, the only way I know the bridge is the subject is because that's what you have entitled the image. Problem is, my eye is directed right towards the streetlight and not the bridge, for two reasons.
1. It sticks out of the ambiguous dark bottom into the beautiful sky.
2. The illuminated lamp contrasts against the gray parts of the sky.

It becomes much more of the focal point then the bridge, which really only makes up a small part of the image to begin with. The dark bottom part of the image doesn't really have any interest because you can't exactly tell what it is, it's just a dark mass.

I do like the colors you've gotten but the with degree of noise I'm assuming you have from your description, I wonder how this would look as a B&W image.

This is just something random, but looking at this, if you were to make a square crop from the right side to just past the lamp, I think this would make a great image for an album cover art. Plenty of negative space for text, and not distracting, but still emotional.

(ps. At the Drive-In ftw! )

OneArmedScissor125,

Does this keep your intent, while treating the light sources as a secondary element? Or is it now too much about early evening? Your bridge wasn't a strong part of it.

The cropping was more towards I was going for; I hadn't meant to make the bridge the subject of the photo, just couldn't come up with a better title.
@Japaslavian: Might have to try a square crop, never really thought of it that way.
