Arrow Portrait, Before/After

Too much Photoshop? Too soft? I think the skin color got too pink and I am unsure how to correct or adjust skin tones in photoshop.

BEFOREAFTER

40D + 70-200/2.8 IS
1/200 at f/5.6, ISO 100, 200mm

Post Processing
1) Healing tool to remove some blemishes and miscellaneous hair in front of mouth and cheek.
2) Blurred duplicate layer to create softness of skin, masking eyes, mouth, hair and background.
3) sharpened the eyes/mouth.
4) whitened teeth and whites of eyes

It might be a little to soft but I think you need to get some of the contrast back that you lost and correct the skin tone as well.

as a women - I like the after shot because it makes her skin look flawless and younger than the first and who would'nt want that.

I really like the second shot.

As far as skin tones, I think their dead on for this shot situation.

I like the color on #2 but the skin looks much better on #1. I like more natural look though, hate make up and all that junk.

No. 2 is a much more attractive shot - I think your image looks Photoshopped, so it's the kind of image that appears in magazines and things, but it's a good image all the same.

The second looks better to me. You may end up with a better shot if you crop it from the top and leave just a bit above her head. The skin tones, in my opinion, seem fine. I also don't believe that it looks to photoshopped. But you can try dropping the opacity of your correction layer if you feel that it looks to fake.

Well done.

robackja, Welcome

But, why not in Before and After? Or Post Processing? Or Photographing People? Critique is mainly for Critique of a person's single photograph, with a little editting. And it gets overflow traffic. Your title and first words are about B/A and edit work, not about how to take the photograph.

You may even get better advice in the specific threads. DPS is multi-service; over-using Critique jams it up. Please, share the wealth with the other threads, too.
