Lovely Langur

This picture was taken in Ranthambore National park in India. Its quite difficult to get a good picture of these monkeys eye expression as the faces are so dark...but thought this was not too bad. What do you all think?

Thanks for your comments

How cute!! =) I love this shot, he has very curious eyes. =) I can see what you mean by the dark face, their faces are very black and also hooded so I am sure it was difficult to get this shot, but I think you captured it beautifully and I don't mind that the face is somewhat shadowed. That gives him character and shows how sunk in his eyes really are in comparison with his face and hair. =)
Nice shot!! =)

Wow! Cool shot! Shooting at the woodland park zoo in Seattle, I had a hard time shooting these monkeys (Or a species like it...I don't remember), so great shot.

My comments: I would crop it closer. The subject is smack dab in the middle of the picture, which is usually a no-no for photographers. Rule of thirds, right? (But then again, rules are made to be broken!). I would crop out the left of the photo, all the way to a few inches left of the monkey. That way, tou can get a closer crop, a cool composition, and have the tree lead the viewer's eye into the photo.

Good work! Zoos and parks are fun to shoot wildlife.

Great shot, but the green clumps on the left are distracting. I love the capture of the monkey! Great job, I think it would be stronger in a portrait crop.

Great capture - I too think it needs to be cropped in a little closer. The eyes are very sharp and I'd just like to see them larger.

Thanks all for your comments. I have done as suggested and cropped the picture and I agree that it looks much better now. Thanks again for your words of advice.

Hi Miacat63,

Nice work. I enjoy the photo! I understand and respect TomW and others' cropping advice; however, I offer a different perspective. I would not take the crop as far as has been suggested.....Ut oh...I am new and I guess this happens: before I could get the words out I dropped down to look again and you did precisely what I was going to suggest...I, for one (now two), appreciate the in-focus foliage to the left and firmly believe it should be in the photo. Thanks Miacat63...a very nice capture. Your latest crop made the photo a gem for me.
