I am a sucker for a good baby shot and this is it! Your whites have detail, your blacks are rich, the skin tone is great, the eyes are amazing, and the expression has a ton of personality. I also love everything about the composition.

Ha!! I'm pretty new to Photoshop myself :-) playing with other peoples images is a good way to learn some new tricks. Basically I firstly copied the main image as a duplicate layer, created a mask around the whites of the eys including the iris (you're right they are dark) and inserted a brightness/contrast adjustment layer for the eyes only. If you send me a private message by clicking on my user name and leave an email address, I'll send you the PSD file with the adjustment layer and you'll get a better idea.

mackenziedawn,
Some things aren't noticeable right away, until you see a comparison with a different version. Such was the overly bright white of the hood Isabella wore in your photo. You can layer a gray mask over that distraction, erase the area over her face so it's not affected, and the blowout is much less a distraction. When you took this, were you wearing a striped top and maybe a red skirt? Window behind your right shoulder, and maybe presents on the floor to your left?

Jiminy Thank you for taking the time to do that. I like the outcome, much softer. Do you think you could help me thru this one, point me in the right direction? I think I was wearing red?? and a window was to my left. Are you getting all that from her eyes?

mackensiedawn,
Very good eyes: in an effort to find the dark brown, details did start to show up. Mostly I guessed at what the shapes and colors might be. And it would be your left, correct. Thanks for allowing the practice. I use Adobe PhotoDeluxe, so if you use PhotoShop, it'll be tough to give steps. Basically you will add a layer of gray as Darken, 30% Opacity. Select and Delete, or Erase, face to leave Original as is. Adjustment is tight, trying to lose the "too white", but not get too gray. Eyes are on a separate layer, Lightened (different from "Brighten"), Contrasted, Lightened again, Color Balance to more Red, a little Green, eventually some hint of brown comes out. Whites are made less blue with some Lighten, Contrast, a little Magenta. Experiment in these areas, it is different in PhotoShop.
