Cool Sigma 10-20mm

Lake of Menteith

This is one taken with my new lens. But............? Something not quite right. Any help would be appreciated.

Hm... I liked the picture immediately, but all the red on the right side was kind of intense. Maybe you could tone down the red a little, and I'd rotate it so the horizon is level. Other than that, the focus is great and the color contrast is pleasing. Nice shot!

Can't see anything wrong with the image apart from the colour cast.

The EXIF shows this: 'Light Source: Cool white fluorescent (W 3900-4500K)'. 'White Balance: Manual' & 'White Balance: FLUORESCENT'
You might want to play with the white balance.

Otherwise a great shot.

To me the horizon looks slightly tilted...? Not sure if that's the case or maybe my head is crooked or something. lol! =) I would have also liked to see the horizon a little less centered in the frame. For some reason shots with a horizon always look more interesting to me if it's above the center or below the center of the frame (rule of 3rd's maybe? I dunno, I'm just learning this stuff myself!). =)
Other than that I love the harsh angles of the tree next to a serene waterfront, I think it is lovely.

My only gripe would be the way the shot is divided into almost exactly quarters. I think the rule of thirds can and should be broken some times, other than that, nice! Love the colour of the tree.

It's not just you, it's tilted to the right.

Hi All, thank you for taking the time to look and give your comments. The horizon is off, I have habit of taking pictures like that. My friend says it`s because I keep my wallet in my jacket pocket and it makes me lean to one side, I think he was joking! I hope he was. I was moving the white balance with different shots maybe auto would have worked better. Anyway thanks! it helps a lot to get other perspectives on what you shoot.

billmac57, Welcome

We looked into that, believe it may be a result of your dominant hand.

When the title of a photo is a lens, and the post is a landscape, I feel some disappointment. Creativity can apply to all aspects of presenting a work. "Critique this" is just irritating. Your title is the appetizer to the main course photo

Yeah the white balance is a little funky. But I love that tree. Great image.

How do you like that Sigma wide angle? I want to get either the Sigma or Canon version...
