Nice image! Just to add to the other comments I would try to punch up the sky a bit.

I am jealous, I so want that lens!

I love landscapes and this is a great shot, well done. Rather than waffle on with a raft of critique, I made some changes to your image and have uploaded to explain, hope you approve?

billmac57 critique

Changes made in Adobe Lightroom as follows to suit my tastes, yours might vary..

- Horizon levelled and cropped
- WB adjusted
- Contrast added
- Lowered overall brightness slightly
- As much recovery of highlights as possible, although there is a large portion of the sky blown out to white.
- Some blacks added
- reds de-saturated around the tree, this also had the benefit of bringing out the moss growing on the tree and rocks.

Hi,
the reason I used Sigma 10-20mm as the title was because it`s a new lens to me and it was to recognise that fact. Of course it should have had a title to reflect rha actual picture and if anyone can think of a title I would not mind changingit. The picture is of Scotland`s only lake, the Lake of Menteith. As for the lens itself, as I do mostly landscapes it is ideal for my purpose.
I think the changes made to the picture are really good and makes it more like it was on the day before I played about with my white balance. Thanks for everybody`s remarks and I will try to keep my pictures level in future.

Def needed the crop as per Ewie, much better.
I like the shot like that With the white balance changed it's a great one, nice work!

I have a few wide angle shots with the Sigma 10-20mm if people want to see more examples from a recent trip to South Africa:

nice and sharp....and shoot, the color cast doesn't even bother me.....rotate and be done with it.....and try to remember in the future to use all those annoying little guides in your viewfinder to keep things straight.....

thanks for sharing this beutiful image....

billmac57,

Not using emoticons leads to my downfall, when trying to suggest a thing in a roundabout way. But really, titles can get you more viewers. Did you consider "A Shot of Scotch" or "Loch Ness Monster (her day off)?" No change needed, just a thought for next ones.

Other than the reds and the horizon angle I would say the location of the horizon. With the horizon being in the middle I don't know what you are trying to highlight, the foreground or background.
