Default Sunset over the China Sea

Do you think it's ok that there isn't really anything in this picture besides water and sky? I was looking for something to stick in the foreground but didn't find anything that worked. Also, how do you feel about cropping into odd shapes (meaning not a 4x6 or 8x10 etc). All thoughts welcome!

Really nice! This doesn't need lots of FG subject, the sun rays bring enough to it. My only criticism would be what look like over exposed areas in the sea. I think without a polariser it would be hard to cut down on this though.

If you need anyone to go out there and try and retake it... I'm ya man! All I need is a brief and a return airline ticket!

miasmommy,

Water, sky, clouds, waves, ball of fire, ball of fire reflection, 87 colors (go ahead, count!), and if they all join to form great shapes, that's your subject.

But your horizon is not level.

Printing? I use standard sizes. Buying framed photos? All sizes are welcome.

I am a sucker for sun shots, and I love what you captured here. While I agree with the other comments that have been made I do want to say that I love the way you captured the sun slightly behind the clouds. I think it makes the colors and the shot as a whole much more interesting. Great job! =)
