Thumbs up Winters Reflection

Mirror Bridge

Hi and Happy New Year to you all. Sorry it’s a bit late, just back from my hols

Took this picture whilst in Germany over Christmas and quite like the location, colours, reflection etc but every time I look at it feel something is not right but not sure!!

Any suggestion on how to improve please?

Many thanks

For me all the trees make it too busy. The branches in the upper right are a bit blown out and out of focus. The bridge and the water are really cool though, it is just hard to focus on them with all the trees.

Nice work though!

It is an interesting location. It took me a few seconds to make out what it was (before reading your description), I think it was because the reflection is so clear that it is difficult to separate the object from the reflection. As far as the photography goes, I think you've made a good shot.

I tend to agree with both of the above posters. It's a good shot, but I'm like you in that something doesn't feel quite right about it. I think it's because you center on the bridge, but the trees are a constant distraction trying to pull your interest away. You never fully get a second to focus on the main subject. It's still a very interesting picture though. And hey, what were you supposed to do, climb a ladder with a chainsaw to fix the framing? Now that picture could have been worth a thousand words! lol

Mirror Bridge v2

Thanks for the comments

Does this crop help to focus on the bridge?

Cheers

I definitely prefer the newly cropped version

My first thought was also to crop some of the foreground trees out. You were the victim of the scene. It was so busy, so filled with gorgeous wintry colours you'd have had to wade out in the water to lose some of the trees. Still a great picture. Your second crop definitely helps the viewer focus on the bridge not the tree branches.

Much better! We can see the bridge much more distinctly now. WOuld it also help to go back to the same location on a brighter day?

Hi

It would do but I live in England and this was taken in Germany which is over 700 miles away

I must admit the day was very overcast and misty so not a lot great light available

I will be going back in Easter so will take another shot then!!

Thanks

i happen to like this image....the color saturation of the bridge is marvelous...but, i do agree that the composition could be better...

i tried different crops for myself before i posted and i couldn't come up with one that offers a better framing than your original image.....and i would stay with what you had in the first place as it is still an image to be pleased with....

nice job.....
