Question Trapped

Trapped

I don't usually alter the color in a photo to any significant extent from original but in this case the hot pink slippers, red truck, and reflective shoes distracted from his expression.

So what do you think about....

The color?

Centering his face in the crop?

What do you think about the overall effect?

I little background on the shot. Its a candid taken with a canon 40d, on camera flash, 46mm, f/2.8, ISO 100.

Its not how big your camera is, its all about how you twiddle the dials.

Awww....Let me guess. The protection gate for the stairs?
Few comments.
I think the photo is a bit flat. A bit more contrast maybe?
Rotate it a bit. The left and right vertical elements are not straight and that is immediately visible.
Since you did a bit of post processing on the shot, I would have enhanced the blue on his eyes. I think they are the main compositional element.

I would maybe have him move over to the right a bit so the large bar was not covering him so much. ( rule of thirds ) Hey! wow I just put into use what I learned from one of the articles on this site I read. I LOVE THIS SITE!!!! anyway it is an adorable picture and the expression is PRICELESS.... GREAT..

the.alturasian, Welcome

My thoughts are caught up in the plastic hangar around his neck: part of his entrapment, self-imposed? It's a complex shot, with a gem in the middle somewhere. Would you consider showing original, giving us a better idea of what you changed. And another taken as kimspics observed, with less bar covering face?

Great capture. All it needs is Lauren Bacall on this side of the bars with a file in a cake.
