Hi everybody... here is my first picture and first post with my old camera (canon powershot SD850 IS)... tomorrow is coming my new one, a Canon Digital Rebel XTi (first SLR)... I really like the color and texture of this photo, but I am sure it can be with a better focus... what do you people think? (sorry my english is very bad)

Looks like the focus was more to the left than the middle, if the the middle fungi was in focus with that DOF field, I would say it would have created a better composition. But good shot!

I agree with the above. Strange looking subject though...never seen anything like it. It adds to the interest.

You can clearly see the plane of focus in this image I like it. The focus was not set to the left it just so happens that the left fungus happens to be further back then the middle one it just appears that way. More of the one on the left is in the plane of focus in the image then the middle one.
Try stopping the lens down when you do macro work F2.8 is pretty small. You can see there are only a few mm's of depth of field in the image. Try stopping the lens down to F 8 - F16 to get more depth in the image but you will have to use a tripod for a shot like this. I've never seen yellow fungus like this before it kind of looks yummy
