Question Xmas moon

Playing with f-stop and Aperture just before xmas, I saw clouds rolling in in front of the moon.

The pic came out nice, but the moon was over exposed and no matter how much editing I did, it never really looked right.

So, I waited until the next evening and shot the moon on a cloudless night and overlay just the moon on the original pic.

Any crit would be welcome...

Gives nice effect though :-)
Did you create the blue tint around the moon?

It looks artificial and rather cartoony. However, when you think of some of the awesome graphic novels and animated films that have come out in recent years, that is not necessarily a bad thing. It is neat effect.

Hey aakash_vakil - the blue and yellow / orange tinge were there, just slightly enchanced the highlights.

This time of year we generally have clear blue skies, lots of heat and thnder stroms in between.

cheers

m13l13,

Once you remove dark sky color from overlay moon circumference (erasing into lighter area if necessary) and overlay it, you may need to resize until edges blend, giving a seamless convincing look. Adding a hint of clouds back in front will complete the work.

Consider Post Processing Section in Techniques for this sort of question next time, since it deals more with it.

It's kinda neat! If you stare at the picture long enough it starts to look like the moon is floating out of the picture, kinda 3-D'ish!! Very interesting effect!
