Default I don't know why I like it

Hello guys,
this is my first post in the forum so I want to say hi o all 8D ...

Now to the main subject,
I was looking at my photos to see if there are some that I can put for you to critique because I'm new to photography (less than one year since I started) and I'm sure I could learn a lot of things this way ... Anyway this time I think my choice was strange so next time will be something simpler so more things become clear to you guys

this is B&W taking directly like this from the cam, Sony DSC-t100
No photoShop or any editing software
please take a look at it,

Awesome texture! Too bad there's not enough of it. Good choice of subject, too broad of a shot.

Here's where I think rule-of-thirds can have real application. Use the top band as 1/3. From there, pan left and right to find textured horizontal areas that follow rule-of-thirds based on light/dark gradients.

For B&W shot it needs more deep blacks to make the whites pop. The bottom half of the photo is more interesting to me because of the movement, I think a bit more of a diagonal would be even nicer. The lace has lots of possibilities, keep playing with it and add more dramatic lighting.

While the texture is indeed very interesting, there is nothing to keep my eye on the shot. It is way too busy for me with no real attention-grabber. Cool texture though! =)

Thank you guys for the replys ... Now I have an idea of what to do to improve this photo, I hope it works. I want to ask something, can I place the photo here after improvements have been made ?

yeah right, I am still interested in critiquing it if anyone has anything to add.

Yes - no problems with that. It shows that you have been paying attention and that the time people took to comment was worthwhile. We discourage people from posting multiple shots at the start of one thread or starting numerous threads in short succession but carrying on the discussion is what it is all about.

Look forward to seeing what you do.

Hi! Welcome. I like the texture in this shot. If those are curtains, you could try lighting it from the side more to increase the feeling of depth and add a little interest more interest. Something to keep Amira's eye on it. :-) Nice way to start though

back guys,

I did a lot of experiments yesterday with light, finding attention grabber and the other things you said ... But it feels really different now, I had to sacrifice what was interesting in that photo in my opinion. Anyway take a look at this one and tell me if there are other things I overlooked or anything I can do to make it better.

I love this. Rotating it so that the tie-back becomes vertical then cropping so that the curtain takes up half of the frame is inspired. Great work.
