Default A couple recent photos. Do these hold your interest?

Here're a couple recent photos-- first attempts at HDR , actually-- I've done. I like how they turned out technically, even visually, but I'm always concerned that my subject matter is boring or dull. I've taken to night shots, partially because I like the interesting scenes and colors you can pull out of it, and partially because... well... I've got a nine-to-fiver that only gets me out late or on weekends.

I'm still "up in the air" over the this one, though. Part of me enjoys the simplicity, the broken patterns, and even the dull simplicity of the scene, while part of me finds the lack of a invigorating subject to be a real downside.

Thoughts of the audience?

i like the angles of the first one better - second one just seems too straight, and much less interesting.

FLEB,

It isn't in a must-read area, so, often it just needs to be brought up again. If you noticed, there were 4,5, or 6 posts today with more photos than one in them. That has invariably lead to people wanting to show sets, groups of their favorite subject; one time (I have to find it to show) a guy put up over 30-some, posting 4 at a time, in a row. Took forever to load, and it became impossible to keep track of Critique. Even two has its drawback. Wish you'd kept the first one, it was a stronger shot.

Well, that's true about the first one (obvious surreptitious link) being the better shot, but the second one was more the one I wanted critique on.

FLEB,

Something about it bugs you? I know it's a city street, but it's 90% flat architecture, and dark. It has a bright sign on a very dark roof just begging to be read, but it's just an ad. The second attention-grabber is a neon-decorated hole with glass. Color other than the tiny blue neon is of a sameness that can't do much to lift the mood. It doesn't have a character.

OSL's give us a choice of either going there or not, and they don't slow down the loading time. It's a better way to show a comparison, or the original if the post is editted a lot.

Think about giving more thought to titles. Some posts get Critiques first and often by drawing attention with words, and how that fits the photo, with humor, irony, whimsy.
