Default Night Shot

.
.
Here's my first "good" time exposure. This is a 30 sec exposure using a Nikon D80...other details unknown.

The shot is taken from the mstr bdrm balcony from the house we rented for a week long ski trip to Park City, Utah. The house is in the Jeremy Ranch area.

It is a good picture, but it would be a really good shot if you lost about half your sky, edited out the branch on the left and trimmed the right side to get rid of the half window.

I like the colors, life and motion it has.

Yep...great exposure...the only thing that I find disturbing is the two black spots on the sky...dust on the lens?...cropping out the upper half of the sky would solve it.

It6's a great picture although I agree with cropping out the tree on the left.

Here is some of your EXIF

# Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 339/10 second = 33.90000 second
# Lens F-Number/F-Stop = 40/10 = F4.00
# ISO Speed Ratings = 100
# Original Date/Time = 2007:12:21 10:54:32
# Flash = Flash did not fire
# Focal Length = 280/10 mm = 28.00 mm
# Image Width = 576 pixels
# Image Height = 386 pixels

That's a nice image. You could follow the advice above and make it a great image. Do you have larger resolution available?

I actually think that instead of cropping out the sky, you should have zoomed in a little on the horizon, leaving out some of the foreground clutter. nice colors

I agree with giogiak. Removing some foreground clutter would help an already good shot.

Lovely picture! I actually live in Utah and frequent Park City often and recognized this location immediately. You captured it beautifully. However, I was wondering if the sky was photoshopped? Usually the sky is much nicer at Park City i.e. at night it is very starry and during the day there is usually blue sky with peppering of clouds. Just curious. =) Even if the sky is fake the shot is lovely and i love the contrast between the bright lights that look like fire and the cold snow and ice feeling in the shot.
As a side note, for me I think you could have cropped more of the sky out of the shot. It isn't really interesting and there's not much to it but your eye does get a little lost in it. I think the shot would be more interested if most of the picture involved the actual scenery rather than the sky. Just my opinion. =)
