Default Macro practice

fStop Practice

F8/1 sec no flash.

This is my first "Critique my Shot" so please be gentle. I love to take macro pictures of flowers. I've recently been trying to work on the focus. It seems to be the hardest thing for me to master.

When I took this I used the remote to avoid camera shake. I have an Oly E-330 DSLR. It allows you to set up a shot and then see what you deem is the most important part in at 10x magnification. I think it helped get such a clear image of the pistol and stamen.

Well, what do you think?

Thanks-
Shelly

Wow, the pistol and stamen are so sharp. You did a really good job at that, so it seems like you accomplished what you set out to do.

I'm kind of torn with the picture though because I think that maybe changing the angle of the flower to put more emphasis on the pistol and stamen after putting all that work into getting it in such clear focus would really make it pop.

That sounds like a really neat feature on your camera letting you magnify the most important part so that you can get it in proper focus. Sounds great for macros.

It came out nice.
Cropping should help to put more emphasis on the central point of interest.

Focus is sharp right where you want it. Nice black background. I agree that cropping would put more emphasis on the focal point of the picture.
