mackenziedawn,

Look at your camera's white balance setting. Tell us where it is and where this was taken (outdoors, indoors under what lighting, etc). In the past, have you manually set the w/b? Your exif shows end of August as Take-date, so it may just be one of those things that you do post work on, and enjoy it from there. You may enjoy it more if you lighten the eyes enough to appreciate their color. Title is perfect.

Once a week, you might choose one adjustable feature (like the white balance) in your manual mode, and take a shot of the same subject in each setting. You'll have a better idea of what to expect from each, and you'll recognize how "blue" happens.

Indeed. Luckily, there are a lot of neutral whites in there that you can set your white balance off of (in post-process) to mechanically correct it, and tweak from there.

A little bluish indeed, but easily fixed with a quick curve adjustment. I did this sample (hope you don't mind) in about two minutes by just bumping up the red curve and dropping the blue curve a little.

wow!!! I certainly don't mind! Wonderful totally amazing! thanks. I've tried replicating your sample but I'm not quite getting the right skin tone..... do you remember what input output numbers you used? When adjusting different colors...say red.....am I suppose to curve near the top middle or bottom. I am so new to all this, I really have no idea what I'm doing....yet I love and can't stop trying. Speaking of a total lack of knowledge/ talent, can anyone recommend and good books or website for beginner photoshopers? thanks so much.. this is all so EXCITING to me

Mackenzie

Not to step on rajah, but I know there is some white in that pretty little outfit.

I like to try a simple Color Balance first on images where WB was not set right. I feel this can often do a better job at correcting overall color problems and is easier to play with. Using CS3 Image->Adjustments->Color Balance:

Shadows; +15 0 0
Midrange; -7 0 -20
Highlights; 0 -10 -70

Preserve Luminosity = Checked

I can't recommend any books other than maybe anything by Bert Monroy, just because I've seen him on TV. I've always been one to play with software so I do a lot of learning by opening a pic, selecting something from the menu and seeing what it does. I often come across a tutorial that really scrambles my brain so I've definitely a lot to learn.
