the colors are pleasing and the two foci, the circle and the horizon, are on the thirds....i guess the only point of contention would be the exposure.....as it is, it is set for the whole scene......but, something asks me....should it be for that ominous sky....or the bench....or even the grass....i can't say without an exploration.....

all in all.....a wonderful image and i thank you for sharing......

I see this was done under Aperture Priority. I think it could afford more DOF. The colors do well but I think the sky, sea and sand could be deeper to match the foreground bench and grass.

Thank you both for feedback. I quite liked the composition but am now clearer on what is not working.

summerbreezing, Welcome

Add to that, the half-circle cutout at the bottom edge near center draws my eye to it every time I see the photo. That and the intersection between the horizontal bar from top of circle support to bench back, and the beach edge. Good shot, could provide many interesting shots. Like this one.

Thanks Jiminy for comment. This was among first shots with new DSLR. I have used this location several times now and try to see things differently each time.

summerbreezing,

We've had 6-8 inches of snow today. Your post takes some of the chill away. Seeing things differently is a definite skill, practice makes it better.
