Cute shot of your dog. Looks like onboard flash was used based on position and size of catchlights in the eyes. At 18mm you run the risk of some perspective distortion but perhaps that is the effect you were after. My personal preference would be to include the both ears and not crop as closely as you have here.
I took a look at your flickr shots. My choice is the horizontal image of Frosty on the left side of the image. Looks like oyu have a couple of patient models at your call.

I can see why you like this shot because to me it looks like his nose is pulling me into the picture, at first thought it would have been good as a horizotal picture so you could get both ears in there but now I really like the dramatic effect of being pulled in.

Something in me wishes the right side of the pic wasn't shadowed but that's just being nit picky. He's got such a great face I'm sure you're going to get better and better shots of him in the future. I would like to see another one with better lighting and not much going on in the background cause his face is just soooo great! I liked your photo stream as well I just wish that the lighting was a little better. I also like the one where he was on the left hand side of the frame and maybe you can photoshop out that shadow by his ear. I think that will make a fabulous photo with a little photoshopping. I know out is goes with a point and shoot cause that's what I have at the moment and it takes a little duck tape and house lights to maybe get the effects we want. They have loootttsssss of great stuff on this website to help us out!

As for my final analysis of this pic I would definitly hang it on my fridge if I was his mama! Please keep em coming.

hey thanks =] yeah the lighting for me is hard as i don't have any professional lighting equipment it was dark in the house and the light we had inside was to dim =[. Its cool cause he will just pose for me every time i bring out my camera and not run away. Thanks for the advice ill deffinetely have to experiment/learn with different light set ups. I use a canon 350d btw.
