Default Snowboard Action Shot without any Action :P

Unfortunatly nobody rode that Rail while I sat there ready to take a Picture (but as soon as my Camera was packed up 2 people did :P) ...
I still like how it turned out though..
What do you think?

Ride It Hard

The best part of your photo is above the railing. Since there is no action on the rail, it does not add any value to the image. Anytime there is "wording" in a photo, it will distract from the main subject unless it ties in with the overall message of the shot. Viewers will tend to read the words and this lesses the impact of the image.

So would you recommend just cropping it or would that take away too much?

You have a nice sky to work with. Try cropping and see what results.

what time of day was this taken? I guess I kind of think of wintery snow type shots as being bright and white and this was in on the darker side

My vote goes for cropping in just the mountains and the beautiful sky you captured. The rail with snowboarder leaves the picture tasteless for me.

I'm a snowboarder so I still think the picture is awesome even though there's no one on the rail (is that wrong? ) The view in the background is amazing! and I think the rail gives something more to the pic so it's not just another shot of a mountain and clouds. And of course it would be great if there was a snowboarder on the rail, but you probably scared them off sitting there and looking professional.

If you have such an amazing background I think it would be cool if you got some people in the front to add to the pic a little more. I know that it hard to get great moving shots but just some snowboarders sitting on their asses looking at doing the rail might have been fun too (cause that tends to happen some, especially before jumps and rails) or some holding their boards walking up to a jump. It would be a good silloutee (sp?) I think, that is if you have the chance to get back there and the sky does the same thing (it might.... uh huh)

There some good tutorials on this site about photographing people and asking them for their permission that you might want to take a look at.

Thanks for the great pic, and where are you by the way?

as mentioned before, the sky exposure is great.....unfortunately, the forerground is not....it's just a little too dark for all that's going on around it.....the sign doesn't bother me as it is an imperative to ride which is what your day on the slopes was all about....if anything, i would see about straightening it parellel to the bottom of the frame in post....

thanks for sharing...

Thanks for the Feedback
I will try cropping to see how it changes the Picture.. I completely agree with Abby on this, some people would have been nice...
The Place isnt too far from where I live (I'm Austrian btw. and the Pic was taken in Flauchauwinkl, Salzburg) so theres a good chance I'll be going back... Lets just hope the Sky does something amazing again ^^
