Default Gone Fishing

Figured I'd start off my posting here with a picture. I went to film school a while back and I've recently gotten back into photography. I'm studying and working hard and hope someday to make a career of it.

Please tell me what you think!

Caught this guy at the zoo the other day, he was sitting very still and was a great model. Pentax k10d, Sigma 18-50 2.8, taken at iso 100, f4.5 at 1/180.

Pentaxian, Welcome

Fujiman here, if you had simply said you are the world's best painter of birds, I could have accepted that, too. But film school and working hard could have helped produce this wonder, too. All camera work, or a tooling in Post to add whatever the magic is?

There's a slight crop of the top part of the picture. I did a slight s-curve for contrast and I cloned out a pine needle that was laying in the water. Other than that he just sat really still and let me get really close.

Pentaxian,

If you could just get him to put a little "X" on an exclusive modelling contract . . .

Hi and welcome to the group. Very nice work. It has a "painterly" quality about it.

Wow! That shot is amazing.

I also use a Pentax (and have a minor in Film). I just received the K100 for Christmas and am excited to actually learn how to use it properly. I have only been shooting digital for 1 year and using photoshop for the last few months. I am really happy to see someone else using a Pentax, I was feeling kind of lonely

Yeah I've been using Pentax since my parents bought me a k1000 in high school. I really enjoy my K10d.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm glad everyone likes it. I'll keep posting them as I shoot!
