You have been successful at making light the main subject but unfortunatley it is too much of the main subject and you can't tell what anything else is.
I like the first picture the best but feel too much is lost in the bright sky. I feel the serenity of the lake but again its lost in the bright sky. sorry

genji, Welcome
Maybe a smaller, simpler area of light would more effectively illustrate your style/goal/intent. Having so many things reflect light in so many ways is just too much for the eye to appreciate. Also the quality of the light is important. A suggestion: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1057/...9f6a4b120e.jpg

Finally, someone that believes light is more important than subject
![]() My opinion on your photos is you did a great job of stressing light over subject, however, there is no more light. You did too much brightness/contrast and I can barely see anything (I have to look from the top of my screen to see a vivid picture!) I also thinkthe first one is better and that is because of many reasons: First, the top is just so much cleaner. It's not as cluttered, and so although your focus is light, my eye is soothed when it finds the subject rather than darts all over the place confused. You can never beat the psycology of the eye. Second, the hill in the background is really cool. It has that sillouette look, however in doing this, you took down the contrast too much. My fix would be to apply a quick mask selection and paint the hill black, or increase its contrast but not the rest of the photo's. This can be done in Photoshop, and you can get a demo from Adobe if you don't have photoshop. Finally, the angle of the boat and the almost misty water makes the whole scene just so melodic. It's awesome.
