love the repeated patterns as the depth of field increases.

I wonder what this photo would look like with a gentle vignette to draw the eye in further (photoshop>filter>lens correction and move the sliders to suit).

Thanks for sharing

elicho, Welcome

Just one of my favorite subjects; might have 50 views of the dandies. These present a good grouping, and you've composed them well inside the frame.

The photo has "overcast day" lighting, where the darks and lights aren't as deep or bright as they would be under good Sun lighting. Nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't contrast or sparkle or say "Dandelions!!!!"

You may wait to take some other shots in the Sun to see what difference it makes, or edit with whatever program you use, paying attention to a contrast that doesn't ruin those defined seeds.

Another option to get a more dynamic look is to get closer to the "puffball" and simplify the photo, with just a couple of the buds showing and maybe darkening those into the background, either in editting or retaking the photo. Again, this is pretty good as is.

i love macro nature shots... always so pretty
i agree that there might be too much going on in the background so either reshooting and focusing just on that top bulb might be easier on the eyes.. i played around with it in photoshop a bit, just levels and a vignette but the small buds in the background bother me still

elicho,

A carpenter can saw wood as carefully as possible, but will have to sand it if he wants the best finish.

A writer can conjure word images as carefully as his mind will allow, but will need an eraser on his pencil if he is not God.

Why any photographer would expect to get a much more complex set of variables just right in a single "sacred" shot seems most impractical.

I believe if your tools help achieve your goal, use them. To each his own.
