Piddling with puddles

We finally got some long needed rain where I live. This gave me an opportunity to shoot some puddle reflections. Here is one example:


Nikon D80 with 18-55mm kit lens, manual focus, ISO 100, 1/80 second, f/6.3, WB set to cloudy. A slight breeze rippled the reflection as I shot it. Auto focus doesn't always focus where you may want it to with such reflection shots.

Interestingly that actually comes out looking rather dry. My first glance before reading the text made me think of some kind of pattern made with sand and rock rather than water and reflections! Hope you get enough rain to restore the balance (but not too quickly).

ps. ... oh, and apart from my confusion at the start, I think this is an excellent picture. Perhaps the ambiguity is an asset (or perhaps that is just me)?

Whoops, I saw "in" instead of "with" at first (Freudian blip in the sight).

There's always another way to see an everyday scene, and make it your own. This is so out-of-the-ordinary, shot with skill, posed with an eye for interestingness. Well done.

Looks like one of those Australian Aboriginal cave paintings.

Good image but, if you were piddling, maybe "Look Ma, no hands" would be a better title.
