Talking Wensleslas Square

I took this a couple of years ago with little or no knowledge of photography techniques. It is still one of my favourite shots I've taken and would love to go back to Prague to retake it with the little extra knowledge I ave now. Love to hear what people think and get some tips of how I can improve next time.

Winnig Post, Welcome

If you go back, would you either zoom in less, or step back a number of paces, or switch to a wider-angled lens? This feels cropped beyond its limit, like some goodness is in the Delete Bin. Just a loss-of-balance thing. Sky is overexposed, while shadow area lower left is too dark. You could bracket shots at various exposures and overlay in post, if you are learning that along with photography. It gives you the best of two (or more) shots in one. If there is a place to get a higher shot from, a less severe angle might help with several of these.

Hi, thanks for the welcome.

I took this with a pretty bog standard point and click so didn't have the luxury of bracketing, (which i now know quite a bit about and would definitely try)

I think if I went back I'd probably pull the shot back a bit but also use the long street as a guide taking you up to the museum. With a decent sky I think it could have enough contrast across the shot so as not to worry about the symmetry of the street buildings and trees.

Winnig,

Hope you can return, sounds like your photos would be quite different. If this one keeps the memory of that time alive for you, though, it's a perfect shot. Point-and-pray is better than no picture at all.
