Being on vacation, I've found some extra time to go to the local forest preserve and do a bit of landscape photography. I'm hoping for a bit of critique and feedback.
The first image is of a broken tree with a big hole right through the break. I think it has a very unique character to it.

Now for the anwers :-) Did you use a polarizer? Nope. That's the sky straight up. Which lens? Believe it or not, the previous version of the kit lens EF-S 18-55mm f3.5. Did you use a tripod? Actually, no. My tripod is terrible. It's missing a couple of parts. Consequently, portrait view is not even possible. This was hand-held. For some of my later shots I did use a monopod (new from Christmas!) but this one was hand-held. Did you do any post work? Yes. In Photoshop Elements I did a little work on the levels, brightness/contrast, sharpness, and minor work on color saturation. Most of the color is from my custom settings in camera. I shot in jpg.
