Cool Doulton Fountain

This is one of my favourite photographs but what do you think. Do I think it`s good just because I took it, probably.

While it's not one of the most memorable or exciting photos I've ever seen, I like it. The fountain is nicely lined up with the building behind it, and I like the sense of perspective.

What kind of camera did you take it with. If possible, I would probably want to experiment with a wide aperture to throw the background out of focus - the smoking chimney and tower blocks seem a bit incongruous!

Hi,
thanks for looking and commenting. I took the shot with a Nikon D40 and I think the 18-55 lens. I kept the rear in focus to have the old and new in the same picture.

Good gear to be using

If you were deliberately looking to contrast old and new then it might have been worth considering a less symmetrical composition (the details of the fountain blend a bit into the building behind it) and also giving it a title that highlights that aspect. I think the title of a photo is often underestimated for the role it plays as the viewer's doorway into perceiving the image.
