very good concept. Such shots are my fav.
On the critique side, there are 5 trees in the shot but no focal point. All trees are competing with others for attention.

well...you managed a nice shilloute ...and colors are soft which is nice... but as aakash said ...u got 5 thee's but no focal point..so just a better composition would have made it.

Also i can see a 6th tree poppipng up right from top with just branches showing...which is not correct a tighter crop on pic should fix it...take care next time when u taking such pics.

The sun was at such an angle, and the trees were so many that I could only manage this with my point and shoot Nikon. Will concentrate more on the composition while taking such shots.. thanks for the tips!

I believe you should focus on composition as a technique rather than you having a point and shoot. You having just a point and shoot should not be an excuse for poor composition.

Hope I conveyed the message. Apologies if I am harsh, but I love my point and shoot and whatever composition I learnt is on it....so I get emotional whenever someone comments that its a poorly composed photo because he had only a point and shoot.

Thanks for those comments Aakash...appreciate your view on P&S cameras. Can you give me a few links on good composition techniques / make the best out of the available conditions for that million $ shot ?

Thanks in advance
Vishi

Glad you took it positively. Tons of stuff on DPS Blog. Readers have contributed a lot of articles on topics such as rule of thirds, focal points and compositin techniques.
