Sime,

Is this what you meant about the Heiny photo? Effective, creative; wondering if second shadow of pie on right is more distracting than helpful? Even the vignette could go and it would stand as cleaner, simpler.

(Mince pie . . . once was enough)

heh, you know, it was... I was going to post it into that thread as an example of what I was on about... but I thought i'd chuck it here...

I agree, I think it could be a cleaner image... I was faffing about with two desk lamps... and loving my shadows at the minute... there are another two shots in this series on my flickr... I think I actualy like the b+w one most [typical me!]

Sime,

Of the three, this one has qualities I favor. If second shadow were softer, lighter, maybe it wouldn't attract. My eye goes right to it, probably because it's right there with subject and touching the side of the frame.

One of your commentors thought it looked like it was falling out of your hand; neat concept. if you raised it off table (hiding the fact), it would look freefalling.

Sime,

. . . or whack it with a hockey stick, as another suggested. Anything to not have to eat it.

Enjoy it, though, after it serves as model. Going to sleep now.
