Default My 1st. try at uploading

Filter

Hi,
Just joined this really interesting and informative site. I thought I would try and upload one of my recently taken pictures. I am pretty new to DSLR photography and to the use of filters on the camera, your input would be appreciated.

Welcome to DPS! This is a lovely landscape shot, very peaceful looking. What filter did you use? The color of the sky seems a bit unusual.

Wow, beautiful! My eyes are drawn to the purple clouds.. but I like the fence going into the water, I think that should be the focus point.

I'm curious about this also. Was this part of post processing?

This really is beautiful - is it nearby? I'd love to see more shots from this area.

Hi,
I used a magenta coloured filter. I took this picture at a place called Knaps Loch, the closest town is Paisley in Scotland. The only thing I did to this photograph was to crop it a little nothing else.

From the original post, I think it sounds like an on camera filter rather than post processing. The colour is interesting but it is a shame that it doesn't cover all of the sky.

I think this kind of colour overlay is probably better done back in the digital studio, where you have full control and can experiment with all sorts of colours and gradients. I think that filters like neutral density and polarising ones (both still on my shopping list) are the kind that are still useful in the digital age.
