Default Silver Sun

Wind Chime

A photo I found while searching through older photos. Took it around fall this year. Besides the string attached to the sun, are then any other ways I could have improved this photo? I plan to make this my first big exercise in cloning, to try and get rid of the string and hole. Would a different depth of field have worked, with the two trees in the background being used as a frame? Are the highlights distracting or do they help the subject? Any advice and opinions welcomed.

Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel

Aperture: f/5.6

Exposure Bias: 0/3 EV

this I think would benefit from a much tighter crop....as far as how much....try getting rid of the dark tree trunk completely and just to tHE bottom of the sun. Not sure where the sun should be located but the center doesn't work for me personally. I like the offset approach. Should be an easy clone there 1arm. Pretty good background to clone. Might even want to try cloning the ray with the hole in it so there is no hole. Take some area from another....be sure to show us the rework.
