Nice shot! The focus and colors do well and I like the peek-through effect. I think I'd crop the right just to get rid of the dark bits.

Very nice shot. Aside from the cropping of the right side of the picture, I think this picture is one of the nicest "squirrel" shots I have seen. Most of them just look like an animal picture but yours gives it some humor and a story. Of course, maybe that's just me.
I like how you framed the picture with the branches in the foreground being blurred out. I like the fact that it is blurred out so much that you know that it is branches there but there is next to no detail in it so that it simply acts as the frames rather than a visual distraction. By cropping out the right side a bit, it would really make a nice framing for your picture. Frankenpenie is right. It produces a nice peak-a-boo affect and it adds humor and personality to the picture because of the "caught in the act" pose of the squirrel because the squirrel doesn't look like he's in motion at the moment you took the shot. Almost tells the story that he was running down the tree when he spotted you all of a sudden and so he froze because he's been caught. Especially with the nut in his mouth. I feel the nut made the difference between this being just a squirrel shot versus a candid shot with personality and context. I also love the lack of colors in the photo. What I mean is that there aren't a bunch of different colors like you might see on autumn leaves with the reds and oranges and yellows. It would have looked a little too busy, I think, so I really like the simplicity of just the colors of the tree, the squirrel and the green leaves in the background and how they go well together where one color isn't dominating and taking the focus away from the main subject, the squirrel with the nut. The green leaves behind the squirrel is very nice because it creates a contrast; instead of if a tree branch was directly behind the squirrel which would have made the color of the squirrel and the color of the branch too similar and thus making it a little harder to emphasize the squirrel. Fantastic exposure and good use of the flash. I don't see anything blown out or underexposed and the light falls nicely on the squirrels fur to accent his individual hairs. Lots of details and sharpness in the picture. Well done.

TY very much. I was on a mission at the park trying to get a shot with a natural frame. Had a couple of flower shots but this guy realy got my attention. He ran up the tree a ways to get a better view of me.
