not bad. My first reaction was that the background roses pulled my eye away from the main rose somewhat. what are you shooting with?

I agree. But I don't think it takes away from the picture that much. I like it.

I like it but I find there's something odd about where the main rose is positioned. I think Great shot.

I'm curious how it would look if you cropped it in some and maybe created a faux depth-of-field effect in photoshop to bring focus to the main flower.

I really like the sharpness and how you caught the droplets of water on the petals.

What aperture were you shooting? I'm guessing in the f/5.6 - f/8 range? If so, that's definitely a good way to get that tack like sharpness out of your lens. And that's one of the best parts of the shot -- the lovely sharp water droplets. So, that being said, I'd love to see a version shot around f/2 for less DOF and better bokeh, but you run the risk of softening the best part of the shot.

In terms of composition, my eye wants to go directly to the center of the rose, but keeps getting pulled into the shadow between the petals at bottom left. Probably because that's a rule of thirds intersection. If this is a crop, maybe a slight change to put the center of the rose at a ROT intersection would help.

Beautiful color, and I like how the texture of the rose petals comes through and looks velvety. Thanks for sharing.

thanks, this particular shot was taken at f4, 1/4s using natural lighting from a window.

Must agree about the background, it is such a lovely shot red rose, but my eyes tend to want to go to the right side of the picture. Maybe a new crop for us to look at?
