Default Faith...

Hi,

Please feel free to critique this photo, it was for an assignment in my photo class.

When I look at this photo it makes me feel very relaxed and have a feeling of peace.

Canon Rebel XTi | Canon 17-85mm IS | Focal Length=61mm | Shutter=1/40 sec | Aperture = f/5.6 | Mode=Av | Flash=External | ISO:400

Version 2 "with" thumbs (what you can see of them) Thanks for mentioning the photo would be better with them.

Thanks,

Mitch

Nice shot, but I think it wood have been better if you hadn't cropped off her thumb.

I back WooD for the thumb not in composition. Overall, the picture and subject has the potential is able to tell a story. If you can, please take a few shots with different angles.

Hi and welcome to the group.Nice work for your first post! The 'character' in those hands really makes the shot. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Thank you for the very nice comments and you are correct regarding the thumbs. I was not paying attention to the thumbs when I took some of the photos.

I do however have some with the thumbs, I will edit the original post and put it there.

Thanks!

Mitch

I still like the original version I guess the focus is right there and the feelings you were trying to get are well expressed in the first one.. just my thought :P

Mitchel, Welcome

Was the assignment to show "Faith?" Very well done, preference going to second one for composition and lighting.

I actually think the lighting and composition are better on the first one. The shadows the hands and cross throw are a bit harsh in the second one IMO, and the way the DOF plays with the words in the book just seems, for lack of a better word, better in the first. That, and both the angle and lighting give me a more natural and relaxed feeling in the first one than in the second one. Great shot
