Default On The Road Again

I took this while my husband was driving . I am not a big fan of sepia but felt it worked for this photo. was wondering what others think of it .

This may have been better shot in portrait to get more of the top of the tree and less of the poles and lines on the left. Some more contrast would some of the dull look out of it.

I think shots like this do much better when you take the time to find a locale that is minus all the extraneous distractions like cars and lines. Sadly it is very difficult and takes lots of time. On the other hand, I sometimes like take fun shots out of the window too. It makes you think fast - like, do you want to shoot it portrait, or landscape. When you take them and look at them, you get a learning experience to help you next time you need to think fast.

Thanks FrankenPengie I see what you are saying and agree ,I would like the time to set up the tripod and take a portraite shot , it is a pretty spot & i would have liked to have gotten the top of that tree in the shot . But I was taking the shot for fun in a moving truck at about 50 MPH , would portrait or land scape modes work at that speed ?, I did not even think of doing that I was useing sports mode ,due to the movement & no tripod ,useing the dash to help hold the camera steady . It was taken in color so maybe I should not have changed it to sepia , I have a lot to learn both with the camera & in post editing .

I am in the same boat as you SnapDragon...May be the sepia is too much. Try having a lighter sepia. Might have been interesting to see if the tree was on the left fram and the branches covering the top frame.. kinda framing it... I feel landscape with a bit more sky on the top would make it better..

The shot came out very well considering the way & situation you took in

Good work..

I think they were referring to a portrait framing, as opposed to the mode on your camera

I think sepia only works occasionally, B&W is generally a better choice. I've tried a few different crops here, hope you like but, if not, tell me and I'll delete them.

Interesting tree
