Fantastic! The strong contrast of black and white and the patterns of tiles and lines make this seem to rotate, while the grimy look prevents it seeming contrived.

There might be details (eg. would that pot to the side of the bench be better if it was empty or better lit?) but the overall effect is very impressive.

Was this a carefully staged shot or one that you came across? If it is somewhere near to you, it would be interesting to experiment with the setting a bit more.

Dr Fire, Welcome

Title made it impossible to pass by without looking in; time was well rewarded. Good eye.

Love it!

The only thing I can think of as a critique would be if perhaps you could've waited a moment or two to catch the woman in a slightly different pose - perhaps one more relaxed? Mind you, I look at this photo and wonder what she's doing, and what she's doing there.... Perhaps that's the point.

I was reading an article on using lines in composition.. this is a great example of diagonal line... ( I am hoping I am right) please someone correct me if I am wrong... Thought about diagonal lines because of the wall & floor meeting behind the bench.. Also the pic is well divided in two backgrounds.. plain (wall) and checkered (floor)...

Am I the only one feeling the contrast is little less.. The lady is sharper than the floor.. just wondering...

Very interesting shot

This is quite an advance study in use of diagonals. Where the wall meets the floor, there is a black boundary that gives a strong diagonal, supported by the white slats of the bench. Photoshop out that boundary or digitally move the bench so it is not flat to the wall and I suspect the effect would be less striking.

That diagonal is then enhanced by the diamond pattern of the tiles. It is a strong pattern but not aligned to the main line, which creates a disorientating but effective sense of movement. The tiles are not in sharp focus but I think that enhances the illusion - another layer for the brain to decipher which leaves the picture spinning deep into your eyes!
