Though the background bursts seem neat, they are distracting. I'd crop it in tight. Otherwise the focus is very nice, but I think a slightly tighter DOF would help it. A levels adjustment to brighten it would be good and I'm not sure but it looks like the white balance may have been off.

Edit: BTW When you initially post the picture is when you need to add text. If you forget, use the edit button to add text to the original post. Adding a quoted reply to your own initial post is a form of double-posting and is a bit of a no-no.

If you post processed that DOF effect, I think it's a little overdone for my tastes. Also there's nothing about the colors of the shot that really stand out. Possibly it could also use a reshoot for composition to make the subject look a little more interesting. It's a great attempt though, I like what you've tried to do
