Like the snap.. But felling that somebody rips of color brutally form the snap..
If the sky is not blown out then color one probably have more impact..and just a quick thought.. Is it possible to render the car as black and white and rest in color??

I'm mixed. The B&W is good. Winter snow is about contrast. There's usually not enough color to make anything of it. I do think there could be some contrast adjustment here to accentuate it though.
The stickers all invoke an active sports theme, which goes along with the snow. But the fact that they take away from what might have been a good reflective shot is equally frustrating.

Ok, the first thing I have to say is that this really doesn't seem like an abstract to me if that's what you were trying to go for. An abstract usually does not have a recognizable subject per se, whereas here I can see an SUV by a road with trees. It may be, however, that I have a rather strict view of what an abstract is.
![]() I think that the shot almost screams winter sports to me though, so that's a good thing. I don't know if colour would have suited it as well as the B&W because I wonder if the colours might have made things look too busy. One other thing that I notice, however, is that my eye seems to skip over the car to look down the road. This may be because the image largely favours the road, but I think maybe you see that too since your shot seems to be titled "Around the Bend" on Flickr. ![]() All just my opinion of course.

I wouldn't call it particularly abstract - I can still tell what things are
![]() However, I do like the result. Personally, I think complete monochrome is a good choice here. The one detail that particularly elevates my opinion of the shot is the way the lines in the car door mesh with the lines in the slush at the edge of the road (especially where they both touch the frame at the same point); I think that draws the eye into the curve of the road. Hi,
I like the B&W. I also have a Jeep. It's a 1979 CJ-5. When photographing it, my options are; Black and White, or Rust! Even had the SUV not been a Jeep, I would still have liked this shot. Good job! BTW, I will post some shots of my Jeep on Flickr.

How about the other way around? Keeping the jeep in colour will attract the eye to it then move away from it to follow the road.

The shot looks good. I would try and play with contrast and see if you can find a more contrasting output.. I imagine this photo will look best in complete monochrome as you have done...
but thats just my opinion... For some reason the frame distracts me ![]() Good work!! |
