Default Branch and Snow

From the forecasts, it sounds like we may be getting snow again tomorrow so I wanted to finish working on the set of pictures I took of the last snowfall, a couple of weeks ago.

I was particularly pleased with this branch, diagonally bisecting the frame and with a warmish orange tinge to contrast with the green and white of the background:

Branch and Snow #2

Ideally, I would have had the whole length of the branch foreground in focus. If you click the picture, you will see some similar shots I took on the same day.

What would you suggest if tomorrow morning presents similar opportunities?

I would put a soft focus effect on it. Generally I don't like shooting snow because of the exposure issues. But I find that putting soft focus in my shots darkens them just right.

The shot is very well taken and composed, technically speaking. Though the subject matter doesnt seem particularly interesting or beautiful to me at least.

Like this?

Branch and Snow - Soft Focus

I think that works well - it is a very sympathetic way of brining some more contrast out of an image.
