Less sky more sand. I would probably make the guy and the dog a static presentation where they are right in the middle and put each fence on the third of the screen horizontally.

I think EITHER less sky or less sand. having the subject right in the middle lends to just staring at the subject and not the rest of the image. More sky would open up the shot, more sand would give a feeling of travel or distance.
