Default Pennsylvania Deer

I caught this beauty in a park near where I live. They are somewhat tame & I was about 15 feet away. She bolted as soon as she heard the shutter.

wow pretty jumpy deer to bolt after a shutter sound haha. or maybe its just all the deer here in wyoming are basically domesticated. either/or. i like this picture quite a bit, seeing as how i like wildlife photography a lot. maybe if you could have chosen a larger aperture to decrease your depth of field it would have brought out the deer more. did you do any editing to the picture at all?..too bad you couldn't get any pictures of her looking towards you...

Just my personal preference, but in shots of this type, I like to see the whole animal rather than a cut off version. Here there is a bit too much body mass that doesn't add value to the overall image. The other option is a "head and shoulders" close-up of the deer from a more frontal angle rather than full profile. Is F/4 the max aperture on yoru 85mm? Just wondered if it is possible to through the background a littlemore out of focus. Or use a longer focal length lens from farther away at "full open." Sharpness looks good. How did you meter this?
