I recently returned from a trip to China and took around 1500 pictures, of which I am sure at most 100 are worth saving. I am just getting back into photography and save for an underwater photography course I took this spring in Cozumel, I haven't been in a photography class for decades. I feel that I need some help in my composition. More to follow... Thanks for any suggestions!

I would have stopped the lens down a little in this shot the depth of field falls off before it reaches the boat I'm not sure about the building on the right have you tried cropping it out?

the two biggest issues that i see are the building ont he right and the overexposed sky.
You could try cropping out the building and adding in a more interetsing sky. I might also try to boost up the colors of the boats to bring them out more.

I cropped the wall out and attached the resulting photo to this reply. I'm not sure what I can do about the sky. That day was really overcast and hazy (as were most of the days in China) and the sky really was that white. Any suggestions?
