Default Dog in Control

I've only had my camera for about a month, but I've been trying different things with it. This is the first photo I've taken that my wife really likes.

Hopefully, someone can give me some advice on what I can do to make things even better.

Dog in Control

Taken with a Pentax K100D Super
Sigma 18-50 f3.5-5.6 lens
Exposure: 1/350
Aperture: f/8
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 200

Thanks,
Ira

Nice photo. A couple of recomendations: 1. level the horizon of the photo. 2. maybe you can erase the little white square that appears on the field, its a bit distracting and take the eyes away from your composition. I would like to see this photo in color, because it's a nice landscape... nice work!

Leveling the horizon show that the person in the photo is being pulled by the dog. Good composition.

I think the horizon is level. Leveling a hill would not be good. I kinda like this as-is.

There is a hill on the right side of the photo, but I think the left part of the horizon should be even. I leveled it and cloned out the sign.

Dog In Control 2 - B+W

Here it is in color. It has the signature Oklahoma "dead bermuda grass" look to it. I'm used to it, but I don't think it's particularly attractive. I think it works better in black and white.

Thanks for all of your help!

This still looks crooked to me. It's that pond. The lines for the pond slant upwards towards the right. I'd say, another go at leveling it might be worth it.

I agree. It still seems to me that it's a bit of a downward slope. I'd suggest using photoshop and drag a line out to match it up. To do this, show the rulers and then drag from the ruler to the picture and a line will show up.

I think this looks much less slanted.

Peach , I agree yours is less slanted, but until someone said something I really didn't notice the slant.

btw - I like both but if I had to choose I would go b & w
