Default Golden Christmas

Hi All,

I took this shot and was originally very pleased with the result, however I sometimes feel that I need to push up the exposure (post-processing). Could you please give me your candid thoughts on the exposure and all the other aspects?

Thanks.

Golden Christmas

I honestly wouldn't push up the exposure because I think you would lose the atmosphere of the shot. What I see is the pretty glow on the textured wall behind the shot and the twinkling lights that are also catching the bows. The tree only needs to be there for the shape / silhouette in my mind. As it is, it also has an almost antique look to it as well which I find very nice.

I like this, but I do feel that getting the whole tree, including the bottom, would have made this better. Maybe a nice cream colored tree skirt with gold border and some silver and/or gold wrapped 'gifts' would have gave this photo the final WOW-factor. Aside from that, I think the exposure is brilliant, the colors are amazing and the overall 'feel' of the image is well done. Congrats!

ETA: i would have maybe put a little more light on the top of the tree, specifically the star. It seems to be lost mostly in shadow. That might be easily fixed in post processing though, without disturbing the exposure and lighting on the rest of the tree.

This looks like an antique picture postcard, very soothing colours and very soft tones. Well done! The suggestions of Peach are very interesting and really worth a try.

Thanks all for your input, I feel convinced that I can leave the exposure as is. Peach, I plan to try your suggestions... once I get some gifts under the tree!.

Merry Chirstmas!
