Hi everyone,

I need your insights on this photo.

This is a photo shot I took with a compact digital camera.

Please let me know your insights and what you think I need to improve.

Hi Margie25, from my perspective which is relatively noobish the picture lacks punch and the focal point (the ship) is lost amongst the vastness of the scene. I would have been tempted to try and recompose the shot from another angle to loose some of the branches that obscure the point. A closer landscape type crop would help the eye to stay on the focal point a bit more and the clutter could be cloned out using Photoshop.
I hope you don't mind but i had a play with the exposure, shadow/highlight, saturation and a little curves adjustment in PS and it's amazing how much more detail you can bring out. Overall though not too bad imho....

margie, welcome! First we here would appreciate it if you could only post images that re 600 pixels on their longest side. This helps pages load faster and makes it easier for people to view. Some have slow dial up speeds and may be more apt to pass up your photo cause its taking too long to load. The rules explain how best to submit pics for critiquing. Flickr is a great site to upload images to. It allows us to view the large version but insert the smaller size to the site. MAybe give it a try and see what you think.
I resized it for you to flickr....

NOW.....i like the original. I like it better in some ways than the rework...the rework has nice color to it in the sky the adjustments brought out alot of artifacts.
As for composition I hink waiting a could minutes till the ship was past he branches and the concrete block of some sort might have helped a bit. they a tiny bit distracting.
For the most part its a good shot but there are a few adjustments that i would make.
Is this a vacation shot or somewhere you can get to?
This photo would have ben a great HDR image!

I have more from this image. I think of layering it and use the reduce noise function in Photoshop.

What do you think? Will it help get rid from the artefacts in this photo?

Thanks for your insights, they are of great hlp to me.

I have an account at Flickr now. Thanks for helping me to reduce the image.

let me clarify, margie your image seems pretty much fine its the rework that lurch did that has artifacts. Especially along the boat.
I think if you add a layer and bring the sky out a bit and leave the boat alone or at the most try your hand at cloning out the branches blocking the view.

Hi, I want to let you know that I did some changes.

1- I changed the white balans

2- I did a noise reduction

3- Color compensation

And the result is breathtaking!

Thank you so much for your comments and suggestions.
