Default Beach Front

I took this shot over on the Oregon Coast at town called Seaside. I like how it captured the feeling of the day, cool and clean, I was really trying to get a good view of the path and its perspective. I'm not really sure about this image though, sometimes when I look at it I like it, sometimes i just think it is ok and wish there was something more that stood out. But I just don't know what? Thanks for taking a look...here is a link to a larger size http://flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=380807933&size=l

Camera info:

Exposure: 1/125 sec
Aperture: F/7.1
Focal Length: 21mm
iso speed:100

OK, my first shot at critiquing so don't laugh or be offended. :-)

I think if you cropped the photo so the light pole that is currently in the center ends up 25-30% in from either the right or left edge it would look better. In fact, you have two different shots here and both would look good. Play with the crop and you'll see what I mean, maybe.

I do think it captures the feeling of the day. Good job!

Default yeah okay...

yeah okay i see where you are going...I made some croppings and I i think i get more of the power of perspective I was hoping for with the crop 3, I put the lantern at the corner because I felt it more dramatic to have the vanishing point of the road in the center...as you can see with the #2 I made cropings on the other side and feel it a nice picture....the one thing I wish is if i could get a see more of the ocean in number three like in the original...that is why I kept it in the picture I submitted earlier. I am new to photography and love all the information you can provide, at first I felt a bit sheepish for giving information and thoughts, but I figured it could only help out. 1 if I am to ask for criticism I think it only fair to participate in it as well, and two it will help make my pictures better because i can look at someone else's picture and ask myself what I like about it, what i don't like about it, and how might i change it. I feel honored you did your first critique on my pic. thanks!

Overall I like the shot. There seems to be a lot of space in the sky (not much detail) Have you thought about applying a little dodge and burn in PS to give the sky a little more detail and add some drama.

Hi,
Cropping out the building on the left as you did in
http://flickr.com/photos/nieton21/381018125/
works to get the "cool and clean" feeling.
Nice work!

I'm not quite sure how to feel about this one, initially I like it but it does leave some to be desired... does this look a bit tilted to anyone else? Maybe it's because the building seems to be leaning a bit. May not hurt to focus on flattening the horizon.. or the top of the building at least..
I think it's also a matter of nothing grabs my focus really, the lamp post and the building fight for that a bit.
that last crop wasn't bad but seems a bit too constricted. from my playing with it I couldn't really get it to come out great. I'm a big fan of maintaining aspect ratio so a bit of rotation and then cropping the sky down and cropping some of the building out or another crop took out everything starting a bit to the left of the light pole (not the smaller lamps).
