I love the orange-fire-like glow that covers most of the people. However, the first thing that I notice is the streetlamp (?) - the really bright light top center. It really distracts from the picture, I feel. I really wish I could see more into what the center man is doing. It's a very interesting ceremonial shot that I wish I could see more into.

well... the ceremony is truly wonderful..and i have seen a few of them myself as a teenager... the feel of the pic is right and ur idea was right, but i guess..streetlamp played the spoilt sport in here.

Having experienced the thing myself..i can understand the place being cramped for space with lot of people wanting to get on the edge.

A better idea i feel is, if u get a chance to visit again..try to step back from crowd use a zoom lens, maybee if u can be at a place which has a bit more height.

Thanks Suhail,
Would indeed have been wonderful if there would be less people, but the ceremony is not for photographers ;-) There weren't many options - these pictures have been taken standing in-between the 'stage' and the Ganges (only a few meters). Unfortunately I reached twice too late to have a first row place in the audience, and from the boats on the river it would have been impossible. But indeed, the restrictions in positioning left me somehow frustrated over the photos.
