HI fran and welcome to the boards....Great first post!
I think the sky is gorgeous and the placement on the skyline is nice leaving a bit of openness. I think I would straighten the horizon and crop off a bit of the water...maybe about a third to a half. Also there is just a sliver of a building on the left that should be either included or cropped out..... Love the timing that you caught the sun behind the building!

Great job, the only thing that bothers me is the clouds being so sparse, but that's nothing you can do unless they are cloned out. Where was that taken?

Just my personal opinion, but I think that it would look better with a bit less saturation. I agree with pinball about there being too much water in the frame. The placement of the sun in the picture seems rather arbitrary, it might have been better to put it on a thirds line.

Hope you don't mind. I took the liberty of cropping and straightening out the horizon.

Hey guys, thanks for the critique. I agree with the horizon placement, I always fall into the trap of placing it in the middle of my shots. I have to break the habit.
Kpclark, this was shot by the Christopher Street Piers in Manhattan. And I don't mind the cropping and straighting at all. It gives me a different perspective.

I've nothing really to add here other than I quite like this shot, and especially how you've captured the sun behind the right most building like that.
You are fortunate to live in a setting like New York where there's never any shortage of subject matter! My camera would never leave my side if I lived in that city...

Thanks Atlas. And you're right, NY does has limitless possibilities. I've been finding myself carrying around my DSLR more and more. I hardly ever use my point and shoot anymore.
