is there anyway to bring out the colors any more? Its hard to tell there is frost on it unless you are really looking close. Perhaps crop it in closer?

I thought the same thing Wulf and when I looked at the picture, just for a second, I was still thinking ball-and-socket joint.
![]() The lighting looks early morningish to me and I imagine the colours reflect that. I agree about the empty space on the right though. I think this one really calls for a rule-of -thirds.

Thank you all for your comments. I will try to crop more of the empty space from the right.
The colors are pretty much as I took the shot. Early morning sun, around 9 Pacific Time zone. Still very cold, in the mid 30's, sun was starting to melt much of the frost. I cropped very little of the original picture and did nothing else in Photoshop other than the framing. I have a couple of others from the same morning I will post in another thread. Thanks again. |

Based on comments from my previous Frozen Hip, I cropped a little more and took it "off center". Again, colors are not adjusted, just the basic cropping and resizing.

Hi echo9er:
I did not saw your other post but I like the way you capture the object. I would like to see another angle of the shot just to see what it can be achieved. The DOF is great I think. As you said, colors are not adjusted and IMHO I think colors give the impression of a warm place not a frozen one but that can be easily corrected in photoshop. Thanks for sharing it!

Your link didn't work so I've merged the two threads (quicker than fixing the link and it keeps the discussion about the development of this shot in once place).
That second picture looks so much warmer than the first - I wonder if it changed colourspace while being adjusted and saved? Wulf |

Wulf...
Thanks. I don't know about color adjustments. What i noticed was the tighter crop made the Rose Hip much larger. |

Hi echo9er:
I took the liberty to make some adjustments to your photo. Hope you like it! It includes, levels, curves, photo filter, sharpening and a little bit of burn dodge.
